Mr.Lock would always say if I got the gig “he’d win the room,” and that’s exactly what we did together.įace2Face is more than just a Top 40/Dance corporate band. I believe that agencies are supposed to work for the musician’s benefit and benefit of the client, not the other way around.įace2Face was named by Co-founder and long time front man, Mark Lockett. I want Lokee to stand for fairness, opportunity, and collaboration. This creates an artificial competition to monopolize music and the music scene. The lack of a musician’s union in South Florida can create a feeling of under representation. It’s hard to maintain control over creative decisions and ideas. Like adult life, bureaucracy seemingly outshines truth, fairness and in music’s case it’s the same. Lokee Entertainment will continue to surprise, promote talent and authenticity, and most importantly forge connections with both those who create and those who appreciate.Įvery pathway of the music “scene/business” can be difficult to navigate. I feel like I proved to myself that the connection I felt through music could be felt through the business side as well (I was an artist first then became a businessman). My company grew organically out of playing guitar and making connections with the musicians I worked with and the venues I performed in every day. Constantly writing, gigging, and teaching, I was learning from an entire new group of musicians who are contributing to the shaping and reshaping of today’s music industry. My time at UM was more focused and disciplined than at UNT. I ended up auditioning for the University of Miami and moving to South Florida. This new endeavor has proven Lokee to be a one stop provider for any musical entertainment needs. We even have cutting edge Dj and DJ fused bands to offerĬlients. We offer duo, trio, and quartet configurations. However, over the last 4 years we have created smaller groups from the newest 5-6 piece band FrontLine to several solo projects. We consistently sell our premier band Face2Face. With one satisfied client at a time, we have grown to be a preferred vendor for many of the top hotels, resorts, and nightlife venues in South Florida.

LoKee Entertainment has persevered, despite negative opposition, and kept its integrity both business-wise and with its musicians. Always surrounding myself with the best musicians, I harnessed their talent and then utilized their strengths to acquire more work and more clients.

I’m still realizing the nature and impact of what my time at UNT meant for my future and career.ĭoing this interview has reminded me of the number of artists that I have worked with over the years. Thinking back on my time in Denton, I experienced unbelievable musical talent that trained my ear and developed my musical awareness, persona, and gave me the understanding that anything is possible in music.
FACE2FACE BAND SERIES
I would stand outside of Rick’s Place watching Keith Carlock rocking out on ladies night…Tim Miller’s no headstock guitar arpeggio solos Wednesday nights at Sir Jackson’s pizza…Bill Frisell, Earl Harvin, Fred Hamilton gigs in Deep Ellum… the UNT lecture series ‘93-95 and on and on. I remember jamming Nirvana songs with Ari Hoenig in Bruce Hall and watching him do rudiments on the walls of Karma Café Thursday nights. Louis when I was 17 years old, to study music at the University of North Texas (UNT) in Denton, Texas.ĭuring my time in the Bible Belt, I befriended, and heard the most extraordinary musicians and world class artists who weren’t famous at the time, but are now. One of the other musicians, Josh from “Feable Weiner” (an awesome band from Murfeesboro,TN who have since changed their name) would call me “low key” because I was so quiet. I had just been hired and didn’t know anyone else in the band or on the tour for that matter. I auditioned for one of their bands, “Sunday Driver”, on a Tuesday, found out I got the job on Thursday, and left to follow the US tour on Friday. The name “LoKee” came from my time on tour with Dog House Records. I was not aware of that fact when I started my company years ago, but my heart and business vision grew into the closest thing to a musicians’ union I could create.
FACE2FACE BAND PROFESSIONAL
There is no union for professional musicians in Florida. Through Lokee Entertainment, I created a community of musicians that worked together and looked out for each other. I started my company, Lokee Entertainment, to help local musicians get a steady income through playing music. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far. Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Sattel.Īnthony, let’s start with your story.
